Original Stories

The Awenyo Story Collection offers a growing library of original stories, in both audio and written formats, created to nurture moral empowerment, character development, and the cultivation of virtues such as integrity, nobility, hope, and compassion in young people. Developed with care for both classroom learning contexts and junior youth development, these stories explore themes such as service, courage, empathy, and purposeful action, supporting thoughtful reflection and growth across different stages of learning.

These stories are shared for non-commercial educational and classroom use. They may be read aloud and used for learning purposes within schools, classrooms, and other educational settings. All works are original creations of Fundashon Awenyo and remain fully protected by copyright. The following are short original stories developed by the Awenyo team written for children of all ages, though with specifically the age group from 5 to 9 in mind.

“Tameesha the Tortoise - Uplifting Others with Empathy”
This is a gentle island-rooted tale that invites children and youth to explore the quiet power of compassion. It also shows the pain and heaviness of unkindness and the effects on community of gossip and rumours based on fear. Through Tameesha’s encounter with an injured pelican, the story illustrates how empathy moves us beyond our own selves, awakening courage, responsibility, and a willingness to help others lighten their burdens. Designed to spark reflection and meaningful conversation, this story supports character development and moral learning in classrooms, families, and community settings.
