Programs

Our Focus

The Fundashon Awenyo works across three interconnected areas of educational development, each designed to strengthen capacity, cultivate leadership, and support the transformation of individuals and communities. Our programs are grounded in action, reflection, and a shared commitment to meaningful change.

1. Transformative Teacher Training

Our teacher training programs support local educators in deepening their practice and re-envisioning their role in the classroom. Through a transformative approach to professional development teachers engage in cycles of study, reflection, and practical application while learning to shift from traditional rote style methods towards an approach based on the enhancement of understanding, focussing on concepts rather than information, learning how to enable and release inherent potential within students, and how to integrate content to social contexts, a deeper sense of purpose and to the building of character and transformation of society.

The training emphasizes the development of capabilities — not only academic, but also moral and social — and encourages teachers to develop a learning community, continually refining their practice through action, consultation, and reflection. It includes in-class support, feedback, and follow-up, helping ensure that insights gained are sustained and lived in practice.

2. Youth Empowerment for
Social Transformation

At Awenyo, we envision education as more than a system — it is a vital force that shapes how we live, how we relate to one another, and how we build the world around us. We believe that true and lasting development cannot be imposed from outside, but must emerge from within — when individuals and communities gain the capacity to chart their own path, cultivate their talents, and contribute meaningfully to the advancement of society.

Our approach centers on the belief that meaningful transformation must happen on multiple levels: within the individual, among communities, and across institutions and structures. We see each child as a sacred trust of the whole, and each educator and youth as a potential leader in the movement toward a more compassionate and cohesive society.

3. Curriculum Development for
Moral Leadership & Social Action

At the heart of our educational vision is a commitment to developing curricula that speak to both the mind and the character. Awenyo’s curriculum development work focuses on designing learning materials and frameworks that foster not just academic growth, but also ethical awareness, compassion, and civic responsibility.

These materials are designed to be adaptable, relevant, and rooted in local realities — helping students build the capabilities they need to contribute to a more just and unified society. Our aim is to collaborate with schools and educators to integrate these materials into classrooms across the island and beyond.
